In classroom, there should be more activities involving kinesthetic that connects to logical subjects. In most classes we just sit around and listen to lectures that seems to go forever. I would say that most people don’t really listen to it. So instead of lecturing already boring stuff to the students (Note that every teacher thinks that the subject they are teaching is a very interesting subject contrast to most students’ interest), teachers can actually make us stand up and write on the board or draw something funny that relates to the subject. It is attention-grabbing when we use more visual and kinesthetic parts of our abilities. Although lectures are definitely necessary in school, it is excessively used.
Classroom assignments.
Most assignments should be done in class. Teachers should assign less homework because when there is limited amount of homework, you get to focus more. Let’s say that there was 4 paper homework and a test in AP class and a I-movie project in one day. I would start calculating how much time it would take to do I-movie and how much this AP test is going to affect my grade. I-movie would take more time than I calculated and I wouldn’t be able to focus on the test. Four paper homework, such as worksheets and discussion topics in chemistry and English, I would do that on the bus or at lunch. After getting 4 hours of sleep, I mess up my test. From the actual testimony, this is the life of most students. I think that teachers should assign less than four homeworks per day, so that when we do work on the homework, we would actually learn things from homework instead of trying to cramp everything in the last day.
Graduation requirements
Graduation requirements should include more social activities. Most of the teenagers lack exercising and social activities especially in Korean society. Most schools just say that grade shows the ability of students to perform, but I think that someone can get a straight A’s and forget everything. If school just stopped cramming all information in our head, we would learn more things. Rather than just giving us tests, I think that we should be tested constantly and review more before graduation even though it may be a little unpleasant for us, students. Knowledge is measured by our graduation paper in high school, college, and graduate school, but if we really didn’t absorb everything fully but got good amounts of A’s, what is the point of education?
